Frequently asked questions
Can the price change after I book?
We will never raise a price to pad our own margin, and we don't quote low to win the order. The one thing that can move a rate is the vehicle itself. Auction listings aren't always complete, so if the car turns out not to run, is missing wheels, is oversized, or is parked somewhere a carrier can't reach, the cost of moving it genuinely changes. When that happens we tell you what changed and what it costs before anything is charged.
Is my car insured during transport?
Your car is insured for $50,000 to $150,000 while in transport. Every carrier we use holds an active policy within that range.
Does DispatchAuction pay the auction storage fees?
Yes, once two conditions are met. The clock starts when your order is with us and your balance with Copart or IAA is $0. Both, not either. From that point we have 5 business days to collect the car, and if we don't, we handle the storage. The exceptions are weather emergencies such as hurricanes and blizzards, and cars held at difficult off-site locations.
Will DispatchAuction be the company that moves my car?
Royal Port Logistics, our parent company, is a licensed auto broker rather than a carrier. Our job is to arrange transport across the US and internationally by finding high-quality licensed and insured carriers to move your car.
What happens if my car is damaged in transit?
Work directly with the carrier first, since they usually prefer to resolve it without a claim to keep their record clean. For extensive damage you may need to claim against the carrier's cargo insurance, and we'll walk you through the steps.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
You can cancel for free any time before we assign a driver. If a driver is already assigned, contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Will the transport be door to door?
Usually, yes. The exception is when a large truck physically can't reach the pickup or drop-off address. If you're somewhere narrow or hard to reach, we agree an accessible spot nearby with flat ground for loading, like a large parking lot.
What are the acceptable payment methods?
You pay our fee by credit card. We'll soon be adding the option to fund your account by bank transfer.
How can I see updates to my order?
Once you book online, log in to your dashboard for constant status updates: finding a driver, assigned, picked up, delivered.
